To have a Pet is the most fulfilling an awesome feeling to have as a pet owner. But we all know that every Pet has his or her favorite toy that is always by its side. Sometimes as dog owners, we might feel jealous, but the best that we can do is to keep these toys clean and maintained so that they can keep our pets busy and occupied when we are not available or need some time for ourselves.
There are steps to take when you are cleaning your beloved pets toys
It has been said that a tired dog is a happy one. That may be true. However, it is certainly true that a tired dog has a happy owner. Dog toys and play serve a valuable function for you and your pet-besides wearing him out and keeping him out of trouble, toys can stimulate their minds.
The first thing to do before you begin to clean your dogs’ toys or any other pets’ toy is to remove or scrape any visible debris or dirt.
This can be done by using a brush. It helps in the removal of any grass, leaves, or dirt that has been stuck on the toy. After the visible dirt has been removed from the toys, you can try to disinfect any other smaller bacteria.
Place these toys into a delicate bags but if you don’t have a delicate bag you can use an old pillowcase.
Tie the opening in a knot to keep the toys inside.
Put them in the washer, on cold settings with a small amount of soap.
Once washed hang them out to dry fully or leave them somewhere warm.
When it comes to strictly cloth toys, it is best to wash them in your washing machine using cold settings, after they have been placed in a delicate bag as you do with the other toys. The point has to be taken to reduce the amount of soap you use when it comes to cloth toys. Whenever you are in doubt about how much soap to use, less is better.
Rubber and Plastic Toys
These may entail toys like squeakers, bones etc.
Fill a bowl with hot water and soap.
Use a cloth to scrub toys with squeakers or hole- do not submerge them in the water. You can also use vinegar when you want to do a deep cleaning of your dog’s toys.Toys without squeakers or holes can be soaked in hot water for 20 minutes before scrubbing them.
You can dry the toys with a towel or leave them to air dry.
Dog toys or any other pet toys should be cleaned every 4-6 weeks depending on how often they play with them.
When in doubt about how much soap or clean agent to use whenever you are cleaning a toy, less is better.
Cleaning your pets’ toys is important in the sense that it reduces the spread of germs and increases the lifespan of the toys as well.
